Becoming a Traveling Family is a family travel blog aimed at encouraging young families to get out and explore the world, near and far. We’ve set out to prove that travel doesn’t have to stop once the kids arrive. This blog details days out, attraction reviews, quick weekend getaways, and itineraries with or without children. Also covered are travel tips and general adventures (or misadventures) of traveling with little ones. And of course, Disney. Lots and lots of Disney. Come join us through all the ups and downs as we discover the world with our little ones in tow.
I am the founder and main contributor of Becoming a Traveling Family. Originally from Seattle, I now live in the greater Chicago area with my husband, D, and our two young children. As a stay-at-home mom, I spend most of my days chasing my little minions and attempting to keep the messes in check. I have adventurous taste buds and love discovering new cuisines. My other passions include travel and Disney. When I’m not taking care of my children or traveling, I can often be found with a book in my hands. I love the outdoors, especially when it involves hiking and swimming.
D is an attorney by trade and a wanderer at heart. He claims to have grown up all over including a six years in Thailand as a child. When he’s not working, he can be found watching sports, reading non-fiction/political books or running. His ambition is to run a marathon one day.
Ladybug is a smart and sassy preschooler. She loves books and is anxious to learn to read so she can read stories to Buddy. She is passionate about the Disney princesses and loves going on spontaneous outings with Mommy and Buddy while Daddy is at work.
Buddy is a happy and busy toddler. He spends his days making messes and climbing onto whatever high surface he can find. His favorite thing is being outside and can be relied on to always find a dirt patch to dig in. He talks non-stop, though what he says is often a mystery. He loves dogs and refers to all his favorite things as “doggy.”
